Smith and Jones were the design and interpretation specialists for the creation of this brand new Discovery Centre, located in a refurbished methodist chapel in West Bay, Dorset.
We created a varied scheme that not only communicated the heritage of West Bay, but also captured the essence of the people who live, work and enjoy the area. The scheme was designed to open visitors minds to the delights of West Bay, and encourage them to discover and be inspired by new experiences.

When I first saw it, post fit-out, it made me feel really quite emotional to see so many of our ideas, our aspirations and our overall vision come to life. I think the wooden frames look fantastic, the content is superb, the interactive elements and pull out drawers are perfect and above all, the spirit of the chapel, its beautiful atmosphere, is maintained even while the building feels dynamic and very much of the present.”
