Museum redevelopment
Exhibitions & displays

Hundreds of visitors came through the doors of Somerset Cricket Museum this weekend, to see for themselves the stunning transformation that has taken place over the last 2 years.

Selected to design the interior fit out elements of the major £300,000 re-development, Smith and Jones have turned this object heavy, old fashioned museum into an exciting modern visitor attraction without loosing the warmth, character and passion of the original Museum.

Prior to the re-development the Museum, filled with artifacts and cricket memorabilia had no organisation or theme structure in place.

We catalogued every single object in the Museum, enabling us to gain a full understanding of the content. This catalogue and our knowledge of the objects helped us layout the content of the museum, develop an interpretation plan and create the design scheme for the Museum.

The new scheme organises the space, content and objects effectively, uses a variety of interpretive techniques, appeals to a wide range of visitors, and complements the architectural works that have taken place.

The new interior scheme is one that will that will fascinate cricket enthusiasts as well as appeal to families and children for years to come.
